Message Of President Of Totder Executive Board

Dear Colleagues,

 

The new Executive Board of TOTDER (Turkish Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology), one of Turkey’s most established association, has started its duty following ordinary general assembly which was held in 19th of January, 2019. We would like to thank to the members of the general assembly for their support to our colleagues who were candidates for this honorable duty. Distribution of duties in the new Executive Board are as follows:

As it is known, many breakthroughs have been initiated in the past in order to become more institutionalized and become a more effective stakeholder in the activity area. As such, the web site of the association is renewed, the TOTDER-SET meetings are broadcasted live via webcast, the video recordings of the TOTDER-SET meetings as well as the TOTDER-TRAVMA meetings can be reached later on in the web site of the association (www.totder.org.tr), the directives in the main areas of activity of the association (TOTDER- SET, TOTDER-TRAVMA, Istanbul Orthopedic Meeting, the awards given in the name of Akif Şakir Şakar and Derviş Manizade who were the pioneers of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in our country) are prepared and revised, the tenure of the anonymous emblems of the association and AOTT were obtained and renewed, and a “strategic plan” was established. We would like to thank the past president and the members of the past TOTDER Executive Board for the realization of these advances. We would also like to thank to the president and the members of TOTBİD (Turkish Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology) Executive Board for the realization of the activities of our Association with the awareness of the importance of the union and harmony established in recent years between the two associations. As it has been done until today, we will continue to work on the objectives of our association, keeping in mind the primary mission of the association as to contribute to the education of the orthopedic residents and orthopedic specialists and to carry out activities in line with the ethical principles. Since 2019 is the 80th year of the foundation of our association, these works gain paramount of importance. The review process of the strategic plan of the association will continue. When this plan is ready, the members of the association as well as the valuable colleagues who are interested in the subject will be informed about the details of the strategic plan of TOTDER. In the meantime, I would like to share the preliminary information about some of our activities planned to be put into the strategic plan by TOTDER Executive Board as well as our current and reorganized activities. TOTDER Executive Board plans to prepare at least one Orthopaedic Book and to organize a travelling fellowship programme for 2 orthopedic residents who are at their final education year, due to the 80th year of our association. Details of these programmes will be shared later.

As the new TOTDER Executive Board, within the framework of the protocols signed with our TOTBID roof association, we would like to inform the Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Society that we will continue to contribute to the subject of education and the transfer of experiences without compromising from any ethical values.
